What We Believe

Mission Statement: Making More and Better Disciples

South Lake Worship Center is committed to Northwest Indiana. We have been ministering to the people of this region for over 55 years and have no intention of leaving this area. We are committed to the people who live in this unique are of the Mid-West. In a world of changing values (lost values) and ever increasing challenges we are committed to making a difference. As a church we are committed to restoring hope and values into marriages, families, and homes. We believe strong people make strong marriages, and strong marriages make strong families. In return strong families make strong communities.

Our mission statement at South Lake is "Making More and Better Disciples".  This statement lines up with the Great Commission..."go and make disciples of all people groups.".  The early church obeyed the command of the Holy Spirit.  Here at SLWC our goal is to live in the power of the Holy Spirit while reaching a diversified and contemporary society.

Vision Statement:

South Lake Worship Center is radically devoted to Jesus Christ, irrevocably committed to each other, and relentlessly dedicated to reaching all people groups with the gospel of Christ, we are apart of the fellowship of believers called His church, against which the gates of hell cannot prevail.

Core Values

1. We believe that the Word of God (The Bible) is our guide for operation in the body of Christ and life in the community. (Heb .4:12; 2Tim 2:15; 3:15-17; Rom. 12:1-2)

2. We believe in the principles of Biblical stewardship (the giving of our time, talents, and treasure), motivated by love, which causes us to give our best. (Mal. 3:10-11; Rom. 12:1-8; 1Cor. 12:7; acts 2:45; 1 Cor. 16:1-2; Col. 4:5; Eph. 5:15-17)

3. We believe that Christianity without discipleship is contradictory to New Testament Christianity. (1 Cor. 9:25, 27; Matt. 28:19-20; Rom. 12:1-2)

4. We believe that the lost matter to God, therefore they must matter to us. (Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15; Matt. 18:14)

5. We believe that excellence in all we do honors and reflects God. (Col. 3:17; Mal. 1:6-14; Prov. 27:17)

6. We believe that relationships built on agape love should be the goal and norm of every believer. (1 Cor. 13; Neh. 3; Rom. 12:9-21; Luke 10:1; John 13:34-35)

7. We believe that believers experience dynamic growth through corporate worship and small group interaction. (Psalm 100:1-4; Heb. 10:25; Luke 6:12-13; Acts 2:44-47)

8. We believe that the church should operate in the gifts and empowerment of the Holy Spirit while displaying the fruit (attributes) of the Holy Spirit. (1 Cor. 12; Rom. 12; Eph. 4; Gal. 5:22-23)

9. We believe in the power of prayer and the daily activity of such. Prayer is the barometer upon which the church body rises and falls. (Matt. 6:9-13; 7:7-12; 1 Thess. 5:17; Eph. 6:18)
